History

The Cebu International Distance Education College (CIDEC) is the brainchild of the Founder-Owner and President, Madame Pureza V. Veloso. It was originally founded in 1998 as a down-to-earth provider of tutorial services for English, Mathematics and Science to students who were weak in these subject areas as well as those less fortunate students for free tuition fee. It was officially registered with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 22, 2000 as Cebu Distance Learning Center, offering the first complete secondary level, implementing the 2000 Basic Curriculum (BEC) from first to fourth years with government's authority granted through the Department of Education, Regional Office VII, Cebu City, on June 23, 2001.

Then in August 2, 2001 the center was renamed as Cebu Distance Learning Institute (CDLI). As student population increased, it hired more teachers and staff trained while in service on the nontraditional formal distance education teaching approaches through self-paced independent / home - based or industry - based modular e-learning services to people in all walks of life. It received international commendations and invitations to become an official member of the Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) based in Malaysia, comprised by more than 80 institutional members representing more or less 34 countries including Philippines. Also a recognized member of the World Associations of Online Education (WAOE) based in U.S.A.

Since then, the phenomenal progress has finally established a 21st century era educational landmark in the field of nontraditional formal distance education institution. As God's gift, the school providentially acquired a lot with the imposing two-storey school building located at Corner 11 Wilson and Pasteur St., Apas, Cebu City. The original SEC Registration was finally amended to re-invent the institution into a more global expanse of Cebu International Distance Education College (CIDEC) on September 26, 2007 with the government's authority granted through the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Regional Office VII, Cebu City, to offer college degree courses in BEED, BSED, BSBA, BSIT, and AB with their specializations priorities.

Today, the Cebu International Distance Education College is the only established nontraditional distance education institutions in Central Visayas, Philippines offering the three (3) educational levels of learning (1) elementary (2) secondary (3) tertiary.
